Other ways to support Sylphis3D...
Hello all! If you happen to follow my blog you probably know that I am working on a megatexture system similar to that of Enemy Territory, but that applies to all kinds of surfaces. Not only terrain! Below is a video I grabbed to send to a friend and fellow programmer that I really respect. Since he liked it I decided to share it with you also! Even more now that I did not work on it since the blog post because of no free time :)
So a bit of explaining about the video:
The video presents the _debugging mode_ of the system. What you see is a sphere that has a megatexture applied on its shader. The system load and render only the highest resolution mipmap. This way you get to inspect the most critical aspect of the system : the visible texture parts and mipmap detection. On the low left part of the screen you can see the parts of the texture that are visible and what mipmap levels are required. Black parts are not visible, while colored parts are visible and the color codes the mipmap level required. At the low right part of the screen you get to see the megatexture cache and inspect its usage. (Note that the cache is flushed every frame in this video so you only get to see current frame texture parts)
